Dubai ranks second globally as food tourism destination, new report reveals

Dubai has been established as a leading destination for food tourism and one of the fastest growing gastronomy in the world in 2024, according to the third annual report of the Dubai gastronomy industry issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism.

The Documenta Key Development report in the Emirarate Food and Restaurants sector, including the issuance of 1,200 new restaurant licenses in various categories and kitchens, reflecting the city’s multicultural identity.

A survey conducted among food enthusiasts in the city of September and October 2024 revealed that customer satisfaction reached 62 percent, the Emirates news agency (WAM) He said in a statement.

The report, which included responses of more than 1,100 participants in several demographic groups, showed high levels of satisfaction based on key factors that residents consider when selecting restaurants.

These factors included variety (70 percent satisfaction, 3 percent more than the previous edition), innovation (61 percent, a 2 percent increase), cultural heritage (58 percent, 1 percent more) and world -class chefs (64 percent, 2 % more).

“The Dubai Food and Restaurants sector is a key pillar of Emirate’s tourism strategy and the vision of enormous, and its continuous growth reflects the vision of wise leadership to achieve the objectives of the Dubai D33 economic agenda, which aims to make the Emirate”, Ahmed al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai festivals and the retail establishment in the department of the Tourism Department.

“The Gastronomy Industry Report 2024 reaffirms the main position of Dubai as a global center for gastronomy and culinary arts and highlights the diversity of its unique food offers and concepts of restaurants inspired by around 200 nationalities residing in Dubai,” he added.

Social networks continue to influence gastronomic options, with 70 percent of restaurants attendees in the EAUs looking for recommendations for thesis platforms before selecting a restaurant.

The survey finds a list of hygiene priorities for Dubai restaurants.

Hygiene emerged as the most important factor for Emirate residents when choosing where to dine, with 50 percent of respondents who cite it as their maximum consideration.

This was followed by the type of kitchen (49 percent), the general atmosphere (43 percent), the quality of the service (42 percent) and the value for quality -Precio (38 percent).

Online reviews have become increasingly influential in the selection of restaurants, affecting both daily food options (27 percent) and special occasions (34 percent).

Google data registered 741,500 online searches related to the duration of the city’s food and drink offers the first seven months of 2024, which represents 23.5 percent embedded at 600,500 searches last the same period in 2023.
