Maersk to boost operationsIncrease the capacity of Latin America

DP World, the Global Port Operators of Dubai and Logistics Solutions, and Maersk of Denmark, one of the world’s leading maritime and logistics transport companions, has signed a long -term strategic agreement to expand the minimum mineral of the maritime world.

DP World operates one of the largest private terminals in the country in the port of Santos, the largest in Latin America, which connects to more than 600 ports in 200 countries. In 2023, the port managed 173 million tons of cargo and 5 million TEU.

Maersk to boost operations

Maersk will introduce additional long -term services and maintain a minimum service level as part of the eight -year agreement. In the first year, Maersk will launch six new services with eight weekly calls, increasing seven services and 10 weekly calls in 2026 after the expansion of capacity of the DP world.

Currently, the DP World terminal manages 1.4 million equivalent units of twenty feet (TEU) annually. The company is investing R $ 450 million (approximately US $ 80 million) to expand its container management capacity to 1.7 million TEU in the late 2026 to accommodate a growing demand. It plans to invest R $ 1.6 billion additional (US $ 28.3 million) to increase the capacity to 2.1 million teu at the end of 2027.

Márcio Medina, commercial vice president of DP World in Brazil, commented: “This announcement is another strategic step for DP World in Brazil, reinforcing our presence in the port of Santos and accelerating new expansion opportunities in the country.

“This agreement with Maersk not only allows us to expand our operational capacity for the management of containers, but also guarantees long -term access to the leading port and the Logistics Center of Brazil.”

Increase the capacity of Latin America

In 2024, DP World established a new record for the volume of container management in the port of Santos, size of 1.25 million teus, an increase of 14 percent year after year. This growth was driven by extended container operations and the introduction of new services.

The company recently invested US $ 50 million in advanced port teams as part of its terminal terminal expansion project.

Paulo Ruy, Regional Chief of Acquisition of Terminal and Port for Latin America in Maersk, added: “This agreement with DP World ensures the capacity of service for Maersk in the port of Santos.

“It aligns with our strategy to guarantee reliable and efficient operations for our clients in the region. By having this commercial agreement with DP World, we can meet the growing demand for container management and improve our service offers.”

DP World has also strengthened its network through a new agreement with RMO, the leading railway operator of Brazil, to develop a new terminal for grain and fertilizer shipments, adding 12.5 million tons of operational capacity per year.
